She leads the EWL Secretariat’s work on the fight against male violence against women and girls, in particular advocacy on the Istanbul Convention and an EU Directive on all forms of Male Violence against Women and girls as well as coordination of the Observatory.

Originally from Germany, Laura moved to Brussels in 2014 to campaign in the European Elections after finishing her BA in Political Science at the University of Trier. She went on to work as policy advisor in the European Parliament from 2014-2019 concentrating on Gender Mainstreaming specifically in EU transport policies, e.g. in the aviation sector.

After an educational leave pursuing a Gender & Diversity Certificate at the University of Cologne and a master’s degree in Gender, Intersectionality and Politics at the Free University of Berlin, she came back to the European Parliament in 2020 working as a policy advisor for MEP Maria Noichl: a coordinating member of the Committee on Women’s Rights and Gender Equality. There she specialized on the Gender Equality Strategy 2020-2025 with a focus on prevention of violence against women and girls, especially in the context of the Covid-19 pandemic. She worked in particular on combatting of human trafficking and sexual exploitation. In her role as policy advisor, she also initiated the discussion in the European Parliament on the need of a reform on EU prostitution policy towards the equality model by organizing workshops and engaging with relevant stakeholders including EWL.

In her free time, Laura is an active member in the feminist German community in Brussels. She also enjoys hiking in the Ardennes and discovering new brunch places in Brussels.
