European Commissioners support One Billion Rising. Watch the videos!

[Brussels, 06 February 2013] Ms. Kristalina Georgieva (EU Commissioner for International Cooperation, Humanitarian Aid and Crisis Response) and Mr. Andris Piebalgs (EU Commissioner for Development) showed their support to One Billion Rising and explained why they would rise against violence against women on 14 February.

One Billion Rising : les photos des premières répétitions !

[Bruxelles, le 8 Février 2013] Le Lobby européen des femmes a organisé plusieurs séances de répétition pour le Flash mob sur le morceau "Rise Up, Stand Up !". Le 14 Février à 17h30 à la Place de la Monnaie (Bruxelles), nous allons danser pour dire NON aux violences faites aux femmes, avec d’autres millions de gens dans 193 pays du monde ! ONE BILLION RISING est la plus grande mobilisation jamais vue contre cette violation des droits fondamentaux des femmes.

Cette semaine et la semaine prochaine, le staff du LEF rencontre celles et ceux qui désirent apprendre la chorégraphie à TUSIAD, IHECS, AMAZONE ainsi que dans leur lieu de travail à Bruxelles. Cette semaine, nous avons aussi rencontré des gens à la Mutuelle Socialiste de Belgique, ainsi qu’à la Croix-Rouge à Jette.

Les demandes de participation ont été nombreuses et l’effervescence pour cet événement commence à se fair sentir !

Nous tenons à remercier tous celles et ceux qui se sont engagé-e-s à participer à cette manifestation festive pour une cause excellente, en dansant et / ou en chantant avec nous sur notre chanson originale !

EWL mobilises for One Billion Rising. Learn lyrics and dance!

[Brussels, 21 December 2012] On 14 February 2013, the EWL will join the global One Billion Rising movement with a flashmob in the heart of Brussels, dancing to the tune of “Rise Up, Stand Up!”, a composition specially created for the event by singer and songwriters Mary-Ann Struthers and Guy Rens.

EWL has created a special coreography for “Rise Up, Stand Up!”

The One Billion Rising movement aims to raise awareness about and protest violence against women. One in three women will suffer physical violence during her lifetime, meaning one billion women in the world. Everyday in Europe 7 women die because of domestic violent attacks by their husbands or partners.

Join us in the heart of Brussels, the heart of Europe, on Valentine’s Day 2013, and dance with us, rise up, stand up against violence against women!
