One Billion Rising Europe flashmob: Brussels, 14 February 2013

[Brussels, 21 December 2012] “One Billion Rising” is a worldwide event taking place on 14 February 2013 to rise against violence against women.

One billion women in the world will suffer from violence during her lifetime. In Europe, seven women are killed every day by their husbands, fiances or companions: it is called “femicide” and it is one of the principal causes of death for women in the world.

“One billion women violated is an atrocity, one billion women dancing is a revolution” cit. Eve Esler, One Billion Rising initiator.

The European Women’s Lobby, together with the “One Billion Rising Brussels Europe” Platform, is organising a Flashmob on "Rise Up, Stand Up!" (EWL original song written and sung by Mary-Ann Struthers and Guy Rens) and creative dance.

The event will take place in the heart of Brussels late in the afternoon.
