    We finally have some news about the EU Maternity Leave Directive – and it’s pretty desperate. But let us quickly recap what happened until now:
    – the EU Maternity leave Directive was originally adopted in 1992, introducing measures to encourage improvements in the safety and health at work of pregnant workers, and workers who recently gave birth or are breastfeeding.

  • IndignAção contra a violência sexual - Sign the petition

  • Prohibition of abortion is killing women - Help Médecins du Monde by signing their Call!

    In the context of the +20 Cairo Program, Médecins du Monde (MdM) has launched an initiative to physicians by offering to sign a call for the right to abortion in the world.
    It aims to make a link with the call of the 331 (manifest signed by doctors in 1973 for the right to abortion in France) and to demonstrate that 40 years later, many doctors are convinced of the universality of this right, and are ready to mobilize (again) in defense of this right at international level.

  • Mozambique: Protect women & girls—reject discrimination in the new Penal Code

    [Equality Now call for action] Next month Mozambique is set to enact a new penal code that currently contains provisions that would foster a culture of violence and discrimination if passed as written. The draft legislation would make it easier for rapists to escape prosecution, only considers children under the age of 12 as minors in cases of rape and allows relatives of criminals to get away with tampering with criminal investigations.   • Take action now for Sudan to change the law and allow victims of sexual violence to access justice

    In August 2013, a 19-year-old pregnant divorced Ethiopian woman was lured to an empty property and brutally gang-raped by a group of seven men in Sudan. After a disturbing film of the rape surfaced online in January 2014, the authorities arrested everyone involved, including the victim. She was subsequently charged her with ‘offending public morality’ and found guilty of committing indecent acts – by being raped.
