Professor Dr. Snježana Vasiljević

Professor Dr. Snježana Vasiljević, is the head of the Institute for Public Law and Public Administration, the president of the Committee for the Prevention of Discrimination and Gender Equality and the president of the Committee for Suppression of Sexual Harassment at the Faculty of Law, University of Zagreb. She teaches European Public Law, Fundamental Rights in the EU, EU Gender Equality Law, European Law on Gender Equality and Non-Discrimination, European Union Law, Discrimination and Anti-Discrimination Policy at the Faculty of Law, and European Union Law and European Project Management at the Faculty of Political Sciences, University of Zagreb.

She graduated (summa cum laude) and received her PhD from the Faculty of Law, University of Zagreb. She holds a master’s degree from the Faculty of Law, University of Cambridge, Darwin College. She is the winner of four Dean’s and Rector’s Awards, has been a fellow of the Zlatko Crnić Foundation, and a scholarship recipient of the Ministry of Science and Technology and the City of Zagreb.

She is an academic member of the Jean Monnet Centre of Excellence of the Faculty of Law, University of Zagreb ¨Eu Global Leadership in the Rule of Law“. She has been the project leader of the Jean Monnet Module ¨EU Law and Gender: Making Equality Effective“, for which she was awarded The Good Lobby Academic Award. She is also involved in the work of the EU Agency for Fundamental Rights, the Academy of European Law in Trier and the Council of Europe as a national expert and trainer.

She is a special adviser to the vice president of the Government of the Republic of Croatia for human rights and social issues; she is an external member of the Committee for Justice of the Parliament of the Republic of Croatia, and in the previous convocations of the Parliament, she also participated in the work of the Committee for Justice and Committee for Legislation. Since 2019, she has held the position of an ad hoc judge at the European Court of Human Rights. She is the author and editor of four books and over 50 scientific and professional papers.
