Women asylum seekers: differences of treatment within the EU

[Brussels, 07 June 2012] The EWL attended on Wednesday 30 May the Launch at the European Parliament of the Report entitled "Gender-related asylum claims in Europe: A comparative analysis of law, policies and practice focusing on women in nine EU Member States".

This new research report, published by Asylum Aid, France Terre d’Asile, the Spanish Commission for Refugees, the Italian Council for Refugees and the Hungarian Helsinki Committee looks in detail at the handling of gender-based asylum claims in nine EU Member States. It focuses on the experiences of women across Europe, and the desperate need to ensure that women can claim asylum safely and in dignity.

The research looks at asylum decision-making, procedures, and reception and detention conditions for asylum seekers fleeing gender-related persecution, in nine EU states. Download the report here.
