EWL Contribution to EC Green Paper on economic migration (April 2005)

The EWL contributed in 2005 to the European Commission Green paper on an EU approach to managing economic migration Com(2005)811 final. The Commission ‘Green Paper on an EU approach to managing economic migration’ aimed at stimulating a debate on how best to regulate the entry and residence of third-country nationals who are seeking employment in the EU. While it welcomed the initiative of the European Commission to launch a consultation on this issue, EWL was very concerned that the overall document did not include an analysis of the impact the procedures proposed in the paper would have on immigrants, as individual women and men, family members and/or potential parents.
